Probably very mundane to you folks in the Northwest, but here's my capture of Crescent beach -- much improved by elimination of polarizer shadow. Thanks for entetaining us from Michigan.

You'r right! I see both electronic and visual compression. The original NEF image was captured at 3008x2000 pixels (aspect ratio 1.5040). But when viewed full screen, my computer automatically adjusts to its 14.5x9 inch (aspect ratio 1.6111) monitor. But for your comment, I would not have recognized this change. I've reposted a revised version at the 1.6111 aspect ratio, which seems more pleasing to me.
As to the electronic problem, most of that seems to be attributable to reduction from 3008 to 700 pixels. The compression effects are insignificant at 3008 pixels..

The white objects at center and left center are actual objects (trees and houses) in the original image. They could be cloned out for better appearance.
This is a great memory of your trip, Patrick, and a good, classic landscape shot. Isn't the OR coast wonderful?! I'm so glad you enjoyed our part of the world.
Definitely an iconic view! It's heavily photographed for a good reason. If you ever get a chance to visit when a great sunset or sunrise is going on, this is a place to take photos of it from.
