This shot was taken about 5 minutes before a previous post "Witness" at Ecola State Park. I posted this shot recently on FM to mixed reviews. Some found the original too blue. I have toned the blue down in this version (the first time I have deliberately de-saturated an image  ) but i'd love to hear what everyone thinks. Is it still too blue?

Thanks for looking.
-Bryan

Man, I thought this was going to be a picture of Def Leppard

This is a nice scene, and the colors look fine to me here. Was the original too blue with regards to color balance or was it too saturated? I'm not sure about having the large rock on the left; it does push the eye into the scene, but it seems to compete too much with the warm glow. I might be tempted to crop in to eliminate it.

It wouldn't hurt if you could post it at 720px; that would give us twice as much to look at. This is pretty small.

Rick,

It was a little combination of both balance and saturation but predominantly saturation. I really like the idea of a crop here too, hadn't thought about that. I left the rock in there for balance, but looking at it I think it works better without it. Thanks for the helpful words.

They're both nice Bryan, but I prefer the warmer shot on NPN. That's probably just my personal preference though.
I actually like including the left rock. I think the smaller left rock with water flowing off the top is a nice part of this scene, and cropping the left rock in would eliminate that.

Bryan, I just refreshed my memory on your other shot. Still brings a "wow." Since there was so much reflected color among the rocks in the foreground in that one, it seems strange that this one looks so "b+w" by comparison. I would expect to see pretty intense blues/purple in the foreground... And as to the big rock, I like in there, too, akin to what Chris said above.

Chris - that left rock with the little "falls" is a favorite aspect of the image for me too. I'm a big fan of small details adding interest.

Catherine - my feelings exactly on the purples and blues - a GND filter was used and im sure it added a bit to the hues in the original but you are dead on about the reflected light. It was very "blue" out there that particular evening and I didn't want to lose that feeling of mood.

Doesn't appear too blue to me. I think the colors look pretty good. The other in the URL appeals to me a bit more, I like the colors and the absence the rocks that are in this one. Both are very nice.

I think it is a really good shot. For me the colors fit the mood of the picture. The glow from sun behind the rock is great. I like the slow shutter also.

This is nice...I just wish it were a vert shot and that there was more at the bottom

Wow, how did I miss that first one. It rocks.

I like this one also, but prefer the one you linked to.
