I was up with the sun this morning and out to try and get a few of these little owls. This one showing one of the adults close to the nest hole which is in an old, dead tree.
Such fun to watch as the youngsters are just about ready to fledge and in fact came out of the nest this morning and were moving around the surrounding bushes.. The morning was quite cloudy and threatened to rain every now and then. This image was captured with one such rain cloud behind but an obliging sun on the bird and tree..
I cloned out some vegetation that was below the branch as it was quite distracting but think the finish gives a more pleasing result.
Kind regards,
Brett.

Very good, I think having it next to the nest gives it something extra

Yes I like this shot very much, the background is immaculate and I agree that the clean branch makes it something special. A lovely composition
Really nice.
The black hole of the nest seems to give the whole scene a good balance.
I'd maybe trim a bit from the bottom just to get rid of some dead space, but not a lot.

Love the dark sky as the BG. Composition is fab and I like the way it emphasises what we all think about with owls - the neck rotation - as even though its on the left side, its still looking back into the frame!

That dirty grey sky really sets the sunlit owl off nicely. I love this shot of one of my favourites. Eric
