About a month ago, I was photographing a wedding and overheard a couple of the guests talking about a beautiful waterfall, but couldn't quite figure out about where they were talking. I'm always amazed with the waterfall images that Tim Ernst posts in the CSNP forum and enjoy finding waterfalls here in Wisconsin.
So, I did some snooping around with the few clues that I had and finally found the right general area. It then took me four separate trips to the area to finally find the falls, and it was one of the toughest hikes that I've ever taken in Wisconsin - mud, sand, cobbles, etc.! (oh, and mosquitoes are a given)
This has to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls that I've seen in Wisconsin, and a part of the reason is because of all of the investment in trying to find it! And, this photo just doesn't do it justice - the pink quartzite looked so much brighter when you're there! And, of course, the compression and small file size don't help either.
Yes, Philip, you're right! ;) I didn't and won't reveal the location, at least 'til I hear that the land owner is revealing the location. This is one of those places that I wasn't supposed to find, and now that I have, I'm receiving threats - I might get grounded or have my CMOS shoved under my fingernails! ;)
Seriously, I've been trading messages with the landowner and they're hoping to provide access in the next few months. The problem is that this piece of land is surrounded on all four sides by other private property owners, so I'm guessing that they're trying to sort out some easement for access...
Maybe leaving these falls in a secret area isn't all bad, Tim. At least the owner won't have all kinds of people traipsing in and out and possibly messing things up.

Enjoy,
