Early morning Redshank!
I took this shot early in the morning before the sun was really up and liked the hazy look to it. I took the same Redshank later in the day - on the same post and although it was brighter, and I suppose sharper, I preferred the hazy appearance of this picture better. I hope you agree.

Not all subjects suit high contrast light, and certainly this one looks fine in the muted contrast of early morning summer light

I like the mood and the colors Kim.
The soft grass in front of the bird dont disturb me at all.
They give depth one can feel the surroundings.
Well done,

Lovely shot Kim,

Nicely framed, to my eye, and nicely detailed.

Enough foreground grasses to become 'part of the composition', rather than a single stem that often detracts IMO.

I like it :toast:

A nice pastel pallet with the subdued light. Next time you get one of these, you might like to watch for grasses over the subject and reposition yourself slightly to avoid them. Chances are the bird will turn to keep it's position relative to you.

NIce shot Kim I like the muted colours, not too bothered by the stray grass on front of it

Overall an lovely shot imho Kim :toast:

The grassses do distract a tad for me and would be my only nit with the image
Perhaps a quick trip to Nicks Fulmar post from the other day might give you some idea of how to handle grassy foregrounds next time.

It's always a good idea to post your techs with an image too :wavey:

Very nice Kim, it would do for me. If moving position doesn't avoid the grass, it's difficult to see what you can do when it so close to the subject. I like it as it is anyway.

Like the colours and comp only nit are the isolated blades over the body, but then its often beyond your control
