When's breakfast?
I first found this site last year while out with my wife. We were a few yards apart when she started clicking away. When I asked what she was shooting she said "It's a little fat sparrow"!!

This year, as you have seen, we've got there a bit earlier and the chick is on the verge of fledging. This morning Mum brought a fat juicy worm, fed it through the hole and sat back for a rest and youngster stuck his head out as if to say "Is that all?"

Mum left and little'un decided to come out and fly down into the bushes below. 15 minutes later he was seen climbing back up in short hops. Won't be long before he's fully airbourne.

Thanks for looking.

This is a great capture as well as a great sight to see.

I do have to say though Ian, I think your cropping that weakens the image. The 'business' part of the photo are the birds and their relationship to each other. Having too much space top and bottom containing nothing that adds to the image, just weakens the overall composition in my opinion

Thanks for the comment Barrie. It is the full height of the frame, just a bit trimmed off the left as it was set to cover the full branch as the female can land anywhere on it, as can be seen from Brett's shot yesterday

A great shot, but yes, maybe a bit more off the top and botton would help. Still, wish I has one like that :toast:

Super shot Ian. Interesting comment on the comp; I can imagine a string of 'a bit tight to the edge for my taste' comments if you take much off. I personally like it as it is, but I'm not often right.

Yes a good shot and not an easy one to crop I reckon.

Like the composition as is Ian, the story in this image is immediately apparent
