I had the pleasure of six Choughs feeding on the cliffs yesterday here in Cornwall, they seemed to be eating snails!! (each to their own )they do allow some very close up work though, this bird flew to within 10 feet, at some points he was too close for min focus.

I know how you feel about subjects getting too close, it's a touch frustrating to say the least.
Maybe a touch too much headroom here, but there's certainly plenty of detail to look at and the eye is pin sharp.
I'm colour blind so tell me to p*** off if I'm wrong about a blue cast over this one
No John you may well be right, it did have a blue cast maybe due to being taken in shadow but I did take the blue channel down about 20 odd notches in PS, maybe it needs a bit more?
Well it's not got a blue cast any more, that's for sure, but it all looks a bit flat now to me, maybe you have gone a little too far- I'm not sure. It's an excellent portrait though - I like the comp and that eye is so sharp. It must have been a great sight. Eric
