Avocet in early sun
When I first saw this I quite liked it especially the water colour. I would be interested in all c&c please.

I like the silhouette - works really well for the avocet with its distinctive shape and bill, just wonder if its a bit central - would be better with cropping off some of the right hand side?

Hi Dave,
I'm not a huge fan of silhouettes, but the avocet is one bird it could work well with.
For this shot to work i'd be looking for a stronger composition, maybe subject in lower right to give it the room it needs to move in the frame.
The 2nd thing it needs to have is critical sharpness, here all seems just a touch too soft.

Cheers,
John

Hi Dave,

I do like silhouettes and i think this has potential to be a great shot - I just feel the composition lacks a little something. The basis for a strong image is there, perhaps in my mind anyway, look to get the subject more at eye level (easier said than done, I know).

The colour is good and subtle which helps the image for my liking. I can see why you quite liked it when first seen. Hope that isn't to critical.

Good attempt.

Drew
