I spent the week in Denver for some job-related training and drove up from Oklahoma on Friday the 20th, straight to Mt. Evans. I was dizzy from the altitude, plodding around Summit Lake awhile before eventually getting to the top of Mt. Evans where I planned to be for sunset. However, I had a massive headache coming on and ended up descending. I drove to Dillon/Silverthorn to spend the night, and when I arrived there was a massive mushroom cloud of a thunderhead building in the east. Honestly, I'd never seen anything quite like it. So, I rushed to Dillon Lake and grabbed a few pictures, kicking myself for not toughing it out at the top of Mt. Evans. I'm really surprised there aren't other photos of this thing.
Cool! I really like the sailboat, gives good perspective. Im sure there are plenty of photos, just not posted here! I think id reduce the contrast a bit, it's a little too much.
This is very cool! Seems like the white balance is a bit warm (telltale sign is the color of the "blue" sky), but this is quite a visual event you've snagged.
Yes, I have a tendency to go overboard sometimes with the color/contrast, and it does look a little warm. The jpeg compression also seems to intensify the situation. I'm posting another version with no PS3 whatsoever. This is straight out of ACR with some basic settings that I've saved at a temp of 5150. Vibrancy is set at 30+, and saturation is 0 (I never use saturation for anything). It was a very colorful event!
Excellent idea, Todd! I again looked at the conversion from tiff to jpeg, and there's not much change. But when I save for the web, the saturation in this image goes nuts. The only change from the prior toned down versions is a large-radius unsharp mask for a little contrast.
No, Dave, I didn't enter this one. I think I've already got a couple - don't want to overdo it...

OK, I lied. Now the color temp has been reduced.
