Several took interest in my discussion with a FS trail crew telling me I couldn't sell prints from my photos taken in wilderness areas. I quoted a few of the references you guys posted and emailed with my comments to their office in Minturn. This is the response I received that also included several FS folk on the distribution. (Wish he wouldn't have put me in the same boat with Fielder  ) I've added this to the original discussion thread if interested in more detail.

"Please review what Mr. Rouch has sent via email below. His information is correct. In summary, a permit is required for all commercial filming using video. However, a permit is not required for still photography unless it involves actors, sets, props, etc or unusual administrative costs. This is a new rule that went into effect before the 2002 Winter Olympics. Bottom line, landscape photos (whether for personal use or commercial use) does not require a permit unless it meets the above criteria. Thus, just like
John Fielder, Mr. Rouch does not need a permit either. If you would like more information there is a guidebook in my office I obtained from the three-day class I attended in Salt Lake City..."

Roger,
Thanks for following through on this issue and for posting the FS response. Hopefully the trail crews will be better educated now.

Todd,
I think he's a pizza chef.
