Pyramidal Orchid
I took this on Sunday at Sandwich Bay there was a fairly strong breeze while shooting and am not sure about the aperture.

Slight curves and USM in CS3 Ext.

I find the background a little distracting, perhaps a slightly wider aperture or a different angle on the plant.
You also have a few bunnies I'm afraid.

Great looking orchid species!
I too would love to see this at F4 with a lower POV!

Personally I think that your point of view is fine and agree that you could have tried shots at both f8 and 5.6 to see how that would have changed the depth of field. Or try a longer focal length lens. At the moment I am using a set of green gardening split canes to hold the background vegetation down or out the way, this is to try to minimise the amount of gardening that I have to do, and they are also very useful to steady the flower in a slight breeze. I still also carry scissors to get rid of some of the more persistant pieces of grass. Also check the flower that you are going to photograph as I see that in a few places on the one above some of the lower flowers have started to go over.
