Mount Evans Today
I made a trip to Mt. Evans today, hoping for some ice left on Summit Lake. There is ice, but it was more towards the SE end, not where I wanted it to be. Clouds blocked the first light, and I made this image about 10 minutes after sunrise.

The goats were a bit elusive - this little guy jumped across to his mom. *Cropped from the original.

I stopped at Mt. Goliath VC on the way down and some mtn. bluebirds were visiting the same perch over and over. This male is perched on a bristlecone snag with a bug.

* Flowers are coming along and alpine sunflowers are starting to bloom between 12k and 13k. They should look great in about a week.

Interesting pattern in the first. I think it could use some added punch though.

The bluebird is a nice find.

Nice shots Dave. I was up there the Monday and Tuesday afternoon, but got shut out by storms on both days.

On Monday I was on the road just below the summit as a lightning storm approached. From my car, I saw lightening strike Mt. Bierstadt and the Sawtooth...and decided to head down. Several out-of-state tourists decided to get out and photograph the spectacle!

Nice shots. I've never been to Summit Lake when it was that still. I like the reflection and the snow pointing into the image. Congratulations.

Whoah, GREAT stuff, Dave! The graphic of the first shot is amazing, and you weren't kidding about that bluebird shot. Wow! The goat perch is cool, too.

Great series Dave, I really like the bluebird shot, he even posed for you!.

Love that bluebird shot. Would've liked to have seen the momma goat with her head turned a little more towards you, but you take what you can get. The Summit Lake shot seems a little tilted to the right, but that could be an illusion.

Thanks folks - here's a slightly tweaked version of the Summit Lk. shot.

The two wildlife shots are great! The reflection shot is alright, but the sky wasn't doing much for you that day... also perhaps some foreground would have helped anchor the scene. Ok, am I in a critical mood or what?

I absolutely love the bluebird shot! And, the kid jumping is very cool.

Excellent series of images, Dave! The kid jumping is really wild - I don't know how they stick the landing; looks almost impossible.

Great stuff Dave. What lens were you shooting with up there by chance?

Great, great bluebird shot. That's awesome that you caught him with his lunch too.
