Juvenile wheatear at top of cliff
I've been kept busy (i.e. less photography time ) with the many juvenile wheatears that are all over Fair Isle at the moment, only a few late ones are still in the nest. This one is at the top of a very high sea cliff, in early evening light.

Canon 1D3
300 f/4 L IS & Sigma 1.4 TC
ISO 400
1/500 at f/6.3

C&C Welcome

I like this as the light is so different.
I know the bird is looking away but there's somrething about this picture.
Cheers

It's the light that makes this so nice. The flowers help too. I like to see a bird looking away sometimes as it creates a different mood.

This picture has something special. The beautiful light, the flowers and colours; very nice

Hi Adam,

Looks good to me, the pose is nice, and the lighting looks just right. How's the new camera going?

Cheers,

Dan.

Thanks for the comments. We've been having some lovely light in the evening here recently and I've been taking a lot of shots looking into it. Dan, the 1D3 is excellent!

Hi Adam,

I'm glad to hear the camera is going well. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to a D300 (or maybe even a D700) soon. I'm not sure whether I should be spending my money on lenses instead though.

I've just got a new job in Oxford, so I'm not sure if I'll be in Cardiff by the time you get back (I start at the beginning of September). When do you finish your fieldwork?

Cheers,

Dan.

Immediately you feel an association with this picture, like you know what the bird is thinking - we've all gazed out at sunsets! Have to say I really like it
