Cracking sharpness, clarity and saturation John - a nice vibrant image
The bird is rather pleasing to the eye as it's elevated somewhat (effectively a lower PoV ).
Now there's been a lot said about this PoV mularky so I'll just put my bit in here - for me, I like shooting at the subjects eye-level because that gives us the subjects perspective, and it gives the the very best chance of isolating the subject sharpness-wise in the frame - in most cases.
It's the isolation that I personally always at least try to obtain - from my own perspective I want to see the subject in perfect detail but I don't want it to be lost in the frame because it's losing the race with a busy BG.
To be honest John I'm a bit envious of your well established puddle and the subjects it attracts - it would be interesting to see what could be done with an 800mm down on the waterline.
But in the main I suppose we should all remember that photography means different things to different folks
Thanks both. I was beginning to think no one liked my little blackcap !
I think the POV things all been said. One thing I would miss if I went any lower is that lovely tail spread in the water which some one else mentioned too. My main gripe by a long chalk though is the reflections which mess up the composition and every thing. Well thats my point of view anyway. And I don't like bum shots !!
Cheers both
