First GBH
First successful Great Blue anyway. I was stalking Water Lilies while this guy was stalking fish on the opposite side of a small lagoon that is in the middle of the Causeway in Veterans Memorial Park in North Muskegon.
The park consists of about 28 acres of land area and attracts a surprisingly large variety of waterfowl considering the amount of traffic that goes by daily on both sides.

Eyes sharp... we can tell where he ( or she ) lives( but I bet it's a he with that plumage)
and exposure is dead on.
Congrats----you see so many of these birds photographed and they are NOT as easy as they may look. Believe me--in the old film days..I could probably retire on the processing etc I wasted on marginal images, when I thought they might be keepers!

Good job Ms. L!

The GBH is nicely captured and I like the inclusion of the habitat where these birds forage. Well done.

Thanks guys!

Jack...You're absolutely right! First of all, the GBH are very skittish, and getting the exposure right is very difficult because of the whites on his head. I had quite a few images with "blinkies" on his head, so one needs to expose for the brightest part of the scene, which in this case was both the lily pads and the GBH's head. Shooting in RAW certainly helps so you can make the necessary adjustments afterwards to even out the lighting.

Beautifully captured, Toni. I was stalking one last night, but was not nearly as successful.
