Tacoma vs Bison
I have been quiet on the group lately mainly because I have been off on several trips doing photography including 2 weeks in Wyoming on an UCROSS artist residency, time in Yellowstone and the Tetons, and a week in the Sand Hills of Nebraska. This past weekend I was down on the Medano Ranch and on my way into shoot sunrise at at 5:00 Am I encountered a 1200 lb Bull Bison who was literally running at my truck with the end result impact and dead bison and dead truck. I was Ok but a bit shook up.
Picture is enclosed.
I now have a new 2008 Tacoma. My old Tacoma had 246 K miles on it and I was planning on getting to 300K before buying a new one. Oh well.

Ouch! Glad you're okay, bummer about the bison.

Wow, that would have been very scary! Glad to hear that you are alright.

Glad you're OK! That must have been quite the experience to have a bull charging you. Too bad about the bull but better that you're unhurt.

I was just up in Yellowstone and had a couple occasions where I had to share the road with an entire herd of bison for a few miles, I can imagine you would be shook up about that but glad to hear you are okay.

I hope you at least get to keep the bison--only fair since he crushed your tacoma. I think i have to go have a bison burger now...(with cheddar). :jump:

There's a story you don't hear everyday! How do you explain this to your insurance company? I'm glad you're alright, Stephen.

Glad to hear you are ok. That is quite the story!

Let me guess - the bison is fine, right? Sorry about your truck - we can never forget how unpredictable these creatures are!

Wow Stephen,

That's really something crazy. Glad your ok!

I had to share the road with a bull bison while in Yellowstone a few years ago. It took me a long time to get the guts to pass him as he slowly walked up the middle of the road. I had visions of him attaching my suv just as he did to your truck.

At least you got a new truck out to the deal.

I am glad you are OK. The most interesting part of the story for me is that your truck had 250k miles (pretty amazing!). No wonder you got another Toyota.

Wow, I've hit a deer once and can't imagine the impact with a bison. Glad you're okay.

A few weeks ago, a bison in Yellowstone got spooked by another car and charged straight for my car, which was stopped in the road. Thankfully, it stopped a few inches before ramming my car.

That's impressive! Too bad about the truck and Bison. Glad to hear you walked away without a scratch! This is a good reminder for me to keep my camera gear properly secured while driving.

Whoa. Amazing story. And maybe I won't drive around Yellowstone with my camera sitting in the passenger seat anymore.

Once I am glad you safe!! regards, Rajeev. :wavey:
