I'm thinking of taking some framing classes. The outfit offering them is called"Framing4Yourself" and the instructor is David Logan.
Has anyone taken these courses? Or can you recommend others? I live in eastern Massachusetts -- the Framing4Yourself classes will be nearby on July 19th and 20th.
I took the two-day course last year in Santa Cruz, CA with David Logan. It was good. We learned the framing basics and got plenty of hands-on training with mat cutting and constructing a frame. David was patient, knew what he was talking about and an overall good adult instructor. Bottom line: the class had fun and we learned a great deal. It is very basic though. This is for someone with no experience with framing and matting. Of course David was selling the Logan line of framing tools, but I personally felt no pressure to buy anthing at the class. I did end up purchasing tools and supplies from Framing4Yourself later on and currently do my own matting. Glad I took the class. Hope that helps you Frank.
Glad to hear someone has taken this course...and liked it. I tried getting into the Chicago class but it was sold out so now I'm waiting for the fall class in Minneapolis.

Ditto what Bill said. I took the same class in Santa Cruz a couple of years ago and learned a lot; I had been cutting my own mats for about 5 years and learned enough to make a big difference in the quality of my cut mats.
