Does anyone have any positive experience in haggling with deals on the price of camera gear?

I'm looking at buying a 1D MKIII and wondering if it's worth going into any of the dealers in London and seeing if the will come down around £100 in price. Mifsuds have one for £2347 but I think I'd rather buy from a shop I can easily take it back too if needed.

Thanks

Gavin

They will discount i do it all the time even in currys, plus you can normally get stuff thrown in for free. you just have to stand your ground, and say you will buy today if the deal is right.

Though you have more protection if you buy online or over the phone... you have 14 working days to test the item and see if it comes to your expectations, if not you may return it for any reason under the distance selling regulations... its very useful...

NEVER pay the asking price Gavin - they don't have big margins but there's always room for a deal

If you don't mind HKong internet purchases, Digital Review still have it for £1999 + £50 postage. I've had probably a dozen things from them and never a problem.

Hello Gavin.

Be very carefull if you buy from Hong Kong. I brought a Sigma 300-800mm from DigitalRev of Ebay. I brought the lens in January and I did not get to use it properly until three weeks after I brought it. This is when I noticed the problems. Told DigtalRev and have sent it back to them and I still have not got it back. I will never use them again, there after sales service is rubbish. I have learnt a hard lesson trying to save money, and I now wish I had paid that extra and brought from here in the UK..
