Hey, I'm heading off to Aspen the week after next and wondered if any of you can recommend the best places to find wildflowers?

Thanks!

Everything is running a bit slow due to the cold summer and snow.

But, just for grins, check out the hike to independence lake. If its not covered in snow and ice, there might be some flowers up there. They were pretty good last year though we went in early August.

Hi,

Also, unless you're trying to avoid Maroon Bells, the area around Maroon Lake usually has lots of praire sunflowers which make a good foreground for the peak itself.

As stated by Evan there are wildflowers on the hike up to Independence Lake on the Lost Man Loop. I would say more likely at the bottom end of the trail. It's just outside of Aspen as you head up Independence Pass you'll see a sign for the trail head.

Have fun!
