Gannet Enviro!!
Canon EOS 1D MKII, 70-200 f2.8, @70mm, f7.1, 1/2500, ISO 320, RAW, RSE, CS2, hand held, FF

Hi All,

Just returned from a family holiday up in North Yorkshire, stunning place but sadly weather was pretty grim. I had a day's photography at Bempton, a place I have wanted to visit for a couple of years and what a stunning place it is!! Light was very challenging, it went from sunny to heavy cloud and torrential rain several times over the course of the day. Was also nice to meet up with Dave Tucker, Have you dried out yet Dave? I have lots of close ups and in flights of the Gannets. I was amazed how erratic their flying is but they never collide mid air, tried to convey it in this shot. They were coming in to collect grass, would hang in the wind then drop in, great stuff :jump:

All comments welcome

Regards

Rob

Hi Rob
Like the shot, pariculary the dof, dried out now. Few days off work, so heading back to Bempton today to try for other sea birds, and possibly Farne Islands on Friday. Good to meet you.

Looks like you were not far from where I suggested Rob - aren't they just the most awesome bird - I love 'em

Nice shot matey - sums up Bempton to a tee :wavey: :wavey:

I'd just do a bit of cloning and add a little tiny bit to the left edge then the birds wing wouldn't be quite so tight.

I like the comp on this one and the dirty grey weather sets them off perfectly IMO. I don't think this shot would have been half as effective if it had been really sunny.

Hi Rob,

Cracking enviro shot! I've tried a similar thing at the sound a few weeks back but nothing as good as this!

Plenty going on here! I find my eyes just keep moving around the picture from gannet to gannet seeing different things each time

Excellent shot. Really gives you a feeling of being there. So much going on, but plenty of space for it work. Shame the weather was so erratic. At least you didn't have a bank of sea fog! Could do with reviewing at 100%, there are a few dust spots (top right). :toast:
