Tamarack and Temple Ridge
During a very overcast and snowy day hike through the Enchantments last October.

I wish I was there now! Compositionally, it feels a little bit unbalanced and awkward to me though, probably just too much near/far separation for my taste. It does represent the look and feel of the Enchantments quite well though.

I agree with Marc - I'm loving the individual elements in this image but the greater whole isn't working. Bummer cuz all the right elements are there. It just means another trek through the Enchantments!! Oh darn..............!!!

Usually when we do this classic October day hike (up Aasgard Pass, through the Enchantment Lakes and out either through the Rat Lakes or the Snow Creek trail), the weather is clear and cold and I get at least a few decent hand-held shots. However, on this day it was storming; we hiked over the pass and down through the lakes in swirling fog. Somehow things never really gelled for good photography and this was the best image I got all day. This was definitely a "grab" shot - I had spent so much time at Leprechaun Lake that the rest of the group (about 10 others) were way, way down the trail ahead of me. I had to really hoof it to catch back up to them.

Thanks for commenting.

I love the contrast between the tree leaves and the rest of the image. I wish I could see more of the tree, either the top or bottom or both. I wouldn't be too hasty in giving up on it though.
