Evening Fox
I am still shooting the cubs-Now every other evening-The 1D MK3 is causing me all kinds of problems in low light and Canon have asked for files and set up as they have had it back 4 times and its no better once the light levels fall-They have now sent the details to Canon HQ in holland so fingers crossed they do something,So the last few times i have been there i have been focusing on the fox and flicking the MLU into place and using a cable release which is abit hit and miss but better than the AF :frown: This image was taken this evening,The back end is abit closer to the edge than i would like but once the mirror is up you cant recompose

Canon 1D3 500F4+1.4x 1/320@F5.6 MLU Cable release (full frame)

Hi dave Aren't they great ? I don't know bout you but on my site that yellowish late sun can be a pain.
It may be my monitor set up but this looks a little bright to me.
He knows you're there !!
Cheers
John

Great shot Dave, have you thought about using live view to recompose/focus, I know the view screen isn't the best but it might be better than nothing.

Nice one... sorry to hear of your woes with the III... Agree with Danielle on using live view, works as MLU at the same time.

Hi Guys
I agree with what you are saying re the live view and its a feature that i use alot but the foxes are very shy and any noise and the dissapear, With the MK3 you can lock the mirror up so i can take many shots as long as the fox stays in the same place without the mirror slapping down, In live view it comes down between every shot

Hi Dave....

Had assumed that live view worked the same as on the 40D... I can reel off shot after shot with the mirror staying up, in fact I often do.... looks like another reason for me to avoid the MkIII....

All the best

Phil

Actually you are right Phil the mirror does stay up between shots-must of been having a blonde moment-I will give it a try next time-although i was right that focusing in live view is manual

Another great pose despite the technical problems Dave! His chest looks a bit dirty - rolling in the mud?
