I have seen it written in several places that a publisher or a photo editor might want to see a "stock list". What exactly is meant by stock list? Is it simply an index or listing of all 300 or 1,000 or all 3,000 images you have available to be used as may be needed for inclusion in articles, books or for use by a stock agent?

A stock list depends on what type of photographer you are. If you are a travel / nature guy then locations, and broken down into subjects like waterfall, mtns, etc... If you are a lifestyle photographer you'd probably say adults, kids, teen culture,

Richard--so if you were a lifestyle guy, a list of subjects/categories is what is contained in your list or should you have individual images listed under each category? For instance, under Kids: Image 101) boy walking to school, Image 102) boy riding bike, Image 103) girl roller skating, etc.?
You can list specific categories but not captions for each individual image. Several pro photogs involved in stock have stock lists on their websites...might be worth checking out.

Photographers have too many images to list individually. Probably best to try putting your subjects down on one page. But I wouldn't list something if you only have one picture of it.
