I chickened out on going to my first destination, fearing the off-trail hiking I wanted to do would be stopped by snow, and after seeing all the snow still around Lake Isabelle, I probably made the right choice. Still lots of snow surrounding the lake, but you can now get there without having to cross any snowfields. The trail is 99.999% snow-free.
This is a merge of five vertical images. The smoke from the Cali fires is absolutely killing first light, but on the flip side, it's keeping it a little less harsh longer as the sun gets higher in the sky.
If you want a really good photo op, here's one for you. As I was heading west out of Boulder and just entering Boulder Canyon, there were a bunch of twentysomethings along the side of the road with inner tubes. What caught my eye were the young girls in bikinis getting ready to enjoy watersports in the rushing creek to counter the 95-degree temps. Seems some enterprising photographer might want to head up that way with a long lens and snap some pretty-girls-in-wet-bikinis pics.
Very nice shot(s), Todd. I like the vibrant colors and the subtle ripples. Just need a couple clouds, but there's nothing you can do about that.

Beautiful shots, Todd. Awesome job merging, what did you use - photoshop's merge or something else? I think the snow really adds so much. Really nice comp you put together.

Nice merge. I'm actually kinda glad there is still snow up there, I'd like to have some for character next weekend!
lets hope the snow is up there all year long, I love the mountains with some snow on them, the only problem with these wide angloe shots whether it's a panorama or not, the mountains don't look as dramatic or spectacular as they are in real life, I know this are very well, I have climbed Mt. Audubon maybe six times and done the Pawnee Pass route a good 5 times with summits of Pawnee Peak and Shoshoni and Tull, plus camping at Brainard lake several times, this is a spectacular area

I like this Todd....just the right amount of snow to make a nice composition.
Awsome shot, Todd! The pano format works really well with this scene. The full size file must be fun to examine.
I was in Boulder several weeks ago and bbq'ed at that park along Boulder Creek. Holy crap, I know what you mean. That's one scene you won't find in Ouray.
Beautiful shot, Todd! I agree with Dave, the green grass and snow really add to this. There's an interesting symmetry to this too. It almost looks like it's mirrored vertically. Very nice.

Did you use a polarizer? I leave mine off when planning to stitch blue skies.
