St. Vrain Trail
Just got back from a couple great days on the St, Vrain trail. Great wildflowers in the 9,000 to 10,000 elev. range. My first outing with digital after years of 4x5. Much to learn. My first post.

Welcome to the world of digital, I remember it was pretty scary when I changed over from 35mm :). I like the simplicity of this image, and the few scattered wildflowers!. Looks like there may be a slight magenta colour cast, may be my eyes too from staring at a computer all day!.

I like the simplicity - nice comp! Agree on the magenta cast.

Oddly enough, one of the hardest things for me going from LF and MF to digital was that crazy 1:1.5 aspect ratio. All my shots struck me as having been taken with a pano camera!

You're such a tease, Ed. You tell us about all the great flowers, then you post a photo with just a few very inconspicuous ones. I want to see more! BTW, when you say St. Vrain trail, is that east side of Indian Peaks, up towards Gibralter Lakes and whatnot? I've always wanted to get up that way. I suspect the snow is still hip-deep.

This spot is only about three miles up from Camp Dick on the East side and has the highest concentration of blooms. We went up to within about a mile of the St. Vrain Glacier area and saw only patchy snow, not the case three weeks ago. The valley that the creek flows through from the Glacier area to the Buchanan Pass trailhead is one of my favorite Front Range spots.
