some of the heather is just coming into bloom at my site roe deer, seem to discover something new everytime i go there, yesterday it was: both types of snake, a nightjar, sundews plants, a pitcher plant of some type and a huge dragonfly that i think is an emperor, unfortunately not much luck with the deer though
anyway couldn't resisit a few macro shots when the sun came out, quite busy but i like the setting and colours
I like it I thought it was going to be busy but I think it works, great combination of colours, well framed,I might up the contrast just a tad but a great shot as is!!!!
As you say Jack , interesting specimen and colours are nice. A bit busy, - you may be able to simplify the bg a bit with a crop? Nice shot all the same. Eric

thanks for the comments all, bog bush cricket would make sense as i ended up wishing i'd brought rubber boots, is it a cricket because of the tail shape?
a nice image, as others have said a bit busy but I think it gets away with it.

At first, I thought too busy, but on reflection, I think the impression of habitat and view through the heather adds a real charm to the shot. Could have only worked with the heather in flower IMO.
Just a bit too busy for me, my attention isn't drawn to the cricket to start with. Wonder if a squarer crop, taking off the left side would help? Guess its just down to taste though, can't fault the subject
