While I know a lot of people attend church services on Sunday, places like Tea Kettle falls this morning are certainly spiritually uplifting as well. I shot for five hours and would have gone longer had the sun not come out.
Starting out this morning I had planned to go to Eagle's Nest falls, but thought Tea Kettle might be worth checking out first. When I arrived at the Warm Creek ford, it was obvious that the water was too high to cross in my truck. So I parked it, and decided to take the shorter, but more dangerous route along and across the creek (three times). I was impressed by how high the water had been last night - the creek bottom was totally washed out.
Anyway, this trip was one that I'll remember for a long time. It's fairly rare any time of year to see it at a level where it spills over the hole in the bluff, and to see it in the middle of July was quite special.
Wonderful shots Bill. I wouldn't have though Tea Kettle Falls would run like that in July. I'm glad you proved otherwise. I don't understand how the creek could be too high to cross in your truck, but yet you were able to wade the creek?
Thanks John. I doubt that Tea Kettle will run at this level in July again during my lifetime. The area got dumped on last night - I would imagine three inches or more in some areas. The gauge near Berryville showed a rise of almost EIGHT feet on the Kings River - and I believe it!
The last time I tried the little crossing in my truck, I nearly got stuck - the loose gravel just kinda washes away underneath the tires with the current and you just sink. I was wading swift water up to mid-thigh - much deeper than I would try in my truck.
I've always said that I can have as much of a religious experience in the wild as I have ever had in church. From your pictures this sure looks like a spiritual place. I especially like the second one. Thanks for sharing.

Both of these are classics, Bill.
I love the clean lines of each - nothing clutters it up, but there's a lot to look at. Really fantastic work!
Beautiful scenes, Bill, especially the uncluttered first shot. I've said the same thing as Ken many times that being out in nature can be much more spiritual for me than sitting in church.
Very well done Bill. The water in both shots looks excellent to me. I like the first due to the fact the falls is more of the image and it appears to have a lower point of view, but then I like the second due to the detail in the rock ledges that can be seen. The light in both looks wonderful.
I tend to agree with you on the spiritual inspiration that one can get by being part of nature. I believe there are moments, possibly like that morning, that tend to instill a love for life that, in my opinion just can not be found anyplace else. A person is truly blessed when they realize that and let those moments influence their life.
Thanks Bill.
