Contented Oystercatcher
hello

One from my recent trip to Scotland, pretty boring shot, but the flock seemed content just to rest when I was around. Was not able to get the birds foot in shot and keep the parallel pose, and this was taken at the closest focusing of the lens.

techs are
D300 + 300mm 2.8 with 1.7 TC (500mm)
1/1600 sec at f4.8 -1/3 EV
AWB
Hand held

thanks for looking

Hi Colin,

Nice comp and the OoF BG sets the bird off nicely. The White's look a tad blown at the shoulder although in general there is good detail in the blacks and the white's.

Good shot

a nicely composed image. I agree with Rob about the whites, also could the background do with a bit of desaturation maybe?

Very nice image of a bird that is difficult to expose correctly. Considering the harsh lighting I reckon you have done really well with this one.

NIce portarit they are very difficult to expose for so a bit of blown white is to be expected.

Nice image, nits have been mentioned although I'm drawn to the dark patches above the birds back and leading away from the head. I'm sure easy to remedy.

Nice shot Colin. I can't see anything that hasn't been mentioned already, I always struggle to get the exposure right on these things and this looks pretty good to me.

BG looks fine to me Colin, but agree about that small patch of bright white, but is still a nice shot and closer than I got lying in the estuary recently!
