I've had interest from a number of friends and family for a photo calendar this year. I've been looking at VistaPrint and PrintPelican...does anyone have experience (good or bad) with either of these?
I'm also considering a slighly larger print run if I can talk a couple of local shops into carrying them...should I get an ISBN? Any suggestions on that process (from acquiring the ISBN to printing it)?
Thanks for the help!

Jamie,
I've had very good luck using PrintPelican. Good service, great quality. People really seem to enjoy the calendars and the price is pretty reasonable.
Best regards,

Hi Jamie,
I design and publish a calendar for the conservation Trust in my town. I use a local printer and my initial printing is 100 copies. They do high quality work and charge around $8.50 each plus set up and design consulting charges. The total for the first 100 is about $1100.
We sell the calendar for $15 and usually have a smaller second printing.
You probably don't want to print that many (100 is the minimum first run) but I thought I'd let you know what I've been doing just in case. I live in Westford Massachusetts and the printer I use is Ink Etc in Acton Mass. They use Xerox printers and seem to get higher quality than the printers are capable of (according to the factory rep.)
If you do all the design work and give the printer camera ready copy (I don't) you would save most if not all the set up cost. Then the key is finding a printer who will do a shorter run. I never tried an online service but spoke to five or six printers before finding a local one to work with.
I have used vistaprint for other things than calendars -- I have also used Psprint for cards and posters and find them usually cheaper than other places on the web. Have had good service from them.
