Butterfly on a feather
a slightly unusual perch but this Common Blue seemed attracted to it.

Canon 400D with Sigma 150mm lens.

f8, 1/125, ISO 200, tripod.

All C+C appreciated.

That's very pleasant.
If I can get stuff with my new 150 like this I'll be happyt.

Nice image, with a background that helps it pop out.

A pleasing image. I'm not sure about the feather though - it competes with the butterfly quite abit. Live detail, sharpness and DOF. :toast:

Nice subject and bg, ticks all the right boxes, have looked a few times and still can't make my mind up whether I like the feather or not...

Made my mind up..... I do like it...

thanks folks, I must admit I was also in two minds about the feather. My first thoughts were that it was spoiling an otherwise nice perch, but then I thought it maybe added interest.

Superb Matt. Exposure spot on and a real change from the usual thanks to that feather. In fact the feather makes it look far more three-dimensional than the more usual butterfly on a stick. I really like it.

very nice, i quite like the feather, makes it a bit more engaging than a standard macro portrait

Nice shot Matt, plenty of detail in the butterfly and the blue looks really electric
