First off, thanks Adam Schallau and Phillip Noll for the ideas for this trip. Sorry I couldn't meet up Adam, I didn't have internet access at the cabin.
Anyway, my wife and I went to Kasha-Katuwe Nat'l Monument on our way back from Albuquerque. It doesn't open until 7 so the light was quite harsh by the time we made it to the formations. I took some photos, but I have yet to process them. From there we went to the cabin in Eagle Nest via the High Road. I spent the first morning near the cabin and took some sunrise shots. That afternoon we went to Wild Rivers Recreation area to scout it for the following morning. What an awesome place! I could've spent the entire trip exploring the trails and Rio Grande Gorge. I woke up at 3am the next day and drove to the overlook at the Red River/Rio Grand confluence. That is where the photo is from. Shortly after getting the photo, it started to drizzle. I had to switch out my full CF card and wipe off my GND filter. I was surprised by a rainbow over the confluence. I quickly put in a new card and quickly (sloppily) took a couple shots. The camera was still set to expose the canyon and I neglected to re-attach a GND. It was gone before I was properly set up, and I only managed a faint rainbow with a lame composition. DOH! After sunrise I walked into the gorge on the Big Arsenic trail and photographed some of the petroglyphs. I rigged up the fly rod and caught a few trout before lugging all my gear out.
Photo details: 1/2 sec at f/8 and iso 100 with 3 stop GND. It is uncropped and processed on an uncalibrated laptop (I know, I know, I'm saving $ for an LCD), so please point out anything wrong. Processing is a huge challenge for me even without the screen excuse.

This is VERY nice! I love the warm sky and cool rocks. Might need a small CCW rotation (< 1 degree?). Looking forward to seeing some more from your trip!
On my monitor, the FG looks a bit flat, but the sky is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks D J and Momo. I've been playing with the lichen and the juniper in the foreground. I just haven't come up with anything that I like better than this. I'll keep tinkering!
