Hi Guys, As a newby to your site I am very impressed by the quality of the photographers but I have noticed that a lot of the submissions the colours seem to be slightly unnatural and even harsh. I would appreciate your coments
Regards
Richard
Very good point Richard.
I have a problem with colour anyway, ( red/green) but there might be a general tendancy to "tart "things up a bit.
Maybe its human nature to make things a bit "prettier".
I suppose at the end of the day its what each of us likes. I love the old monochrome days which is the eara I learned my trade in !!!
Cheers

Think it boils down to people's tatse's as John says. Everybody sees things differently including colours and tones Also, most but not all are working on calibrated monitors, so for people on uncalibrated systems, the image will look different.
On my monitors the majority of pictures on here seem to be pretty good for colours. Obviously I don't want you to single people out, but could you give some examples of pictures where you feel the colours are a bit unnatural?
Cheers,
Dan.

Richard,
Better still, mention it within the framework of a constructive critique when you feel that the image is not what you would expect. A bit harder to comment in a 'general' forum. I for one like the variety that is displayed among the photographers on here. If we all had the same calibration and idea about the 'natural' colour of things it would get a bit repetitive. Variety is the spioce of life after all..
It depends on a lot of factors, the first and most important is if your monitor is calibrated and if so with what and when, the second is the type of monitor you have.
If you think the colours of a particluar image are slightly astray then please say so, if is the easiest way to find out if you are right ( for others will agree) or your monitor colour has drifted.
