Sunday evening I chased after a line of storms that moved south toward Mount Magazine. I was hoping for a chance encounter with a rainbow, but I never caught up with the rain. I drove on up the mountain and pulled into the Cameron Bluff overlook area just as the sun was setting.

Very nice! Great dramatic light and nice color. Maybe a bit too much black on the bottom, but maybe not enough that I would change if it were mine.
Beautiful Shot John... I like the dark at the bottom because it seems to anchor the shot. If there was only a thin thread of black - it might look to light in the upper portion.

I'm glad I waited until I got home to take a good look at this. There's a lot of detail in the dark area to see, and I think the bluff and the wooded hillside are vital to the shot, even though the spectacular light and colors are its major elements. I probably would have tried to lighten the dark area up a little more, but I know you've got high standards about that. Beautiful shot.
It's odd how I can see quite a bit of detail in the bluff on my laptop, but not on my good monitor. I tend to agree with Randy though, in that the bluff and forest below add quite a lot to the beauty of this image.

Yeah, I glanced at the bluff but my eyes couldn't get enough of the magnificent sky! Very nice John.
