It just goes to show how a moments loss of concentration could end....

Taken on a sunny day this month whilst waiting for Dragon Flies to appear at a local pond.

Canon 1DMK3, 100mm macro, 1/320th, f7.1 at ISO800.

I had ISO 800 set to get a fast shutter speed for the dragon flies whilst in flight. They fly past at some speed and certainly there is no time to keep changing the ISO manually each time they appear.

C&C welcome.

Thanks
Austin

a very interesting image and well captured too. The DOF requirements of images like this can often be challenging. I also like the way the main subject matter is within the lighter part of the background. I've never seen a pair in a web like this.

A great story is told in a single image- not many macro shots do this, so I really like it. Background is maybe a bit contrasty, bit it does help to highlight the important bits- sort-of like a vignetted image.

Nicely composed all round this one. Very dramatic I don't think the bg was accidental, so very well set-up shot.

Great action captured. Love the BG as well - like a spotlight effect! :toast:

Lovely image. Although the love is out the air I suppose.
