So, here's a second photo (of many) taken about a month ago when I "discovered" the Secret Falls. The perspective is slightly different, but the biggest difference, which may not be noticeable at this size and on the computer, is that I used my Pentax 67II and Portra NC 160. The dynamic range is better, as is the detail...
Tim, I find SFII to be rather contrasty, with overexposed areas like the rocks to the left of the lower falls. The light looks more even and better on I. However, I do agree that there is better detail in II.

I too, would crop down some from the sky, but I like the details in the wood and the exposure on the water. Portra is a good choice for film, Tim...I used to use it all the time!

Tim, I agree with the earlier comments regarding exposure on the rock and cropping from the top. What I really like about this image is the way the angle in the foreground log is repeated in the rocks in the middle ground.
Another vote in favor of a crop from the top and more even light. I do like the converging lines of this composition, however, so I hope you'll get a chance to shoot this perspective again.
This works, though I also believe it would be stronger with a crop. Personally, my favorite composition is "Secret Falls, XI" on your website. Very cool little falls, I enjoy the northwoods feel especially (cluttered and rocky ). Good stuff, I recently switched from Fuji 160s to Portra 160nc...beautiful film, I personally like the weaker orange mask of the Kodak product.
