Cairngorm Mountains, June 2008.
D200, 500mm+1.4x, manual focus, f8, 1/500, ISO 320.
Manfrotto 055 and 393 gimbal.
Slight crop to move him more off-centre.

Light was very harsh, but pleased to get this shot. This was one of a pair that were next to a busy path- lots of people were passing by without noticing them. The big lens and tripod get quite heavy after 7 hours carrying it up and down mountains....

Worth the carrying Ben. Lovely composition and pose on this one. On my monitor (uncalibrated) it looks a touch light but other than that I really like it.

Hello Ben.

Like this one the compostion works well and some nice detail on the bird. It does look a little bright and the white feather on the left looks burnt out. If this was taken in Raw you might be able to get this back. :wavey:

Hi Ben,
I like the comp and the head turn of the bird.
Very good to see the camouflage of the feathers, perfect.
cheers, :toast: :toast:

Very nice and sharp picture. I like the composition and the BG

Lovely birds these Benn and showing well in habitat.
Perhaps a touch on the bright side as pointed out the lower left hand feather.
To make the bird pop even more I think I would have blurred that BG., and even the rocks in the FG.
