Earlier today, I got a chance to go visit the Ocean Views display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. The display features winners of a Nature's Best photography competition. One of the images displayed was taken by Verena and Georg Popp, and I offered to get them some pictures from the display; So I thought I'd share them here.
If you want to see the images, and can't get to the museum, some of them can be viewed here on the Smithsonian website. Although honestly, the website doesn't do them justice. The presentation is outstanding, and the images are printed larger than I expected. Combined with the quality of the photos themselves, it's a terrific display. They did hide it a bit behind the Gem and Mineral Gift Shop, but it did seem to have a lot of traffic. The show runs through November - if you're in/near DC, it's worth a visit.
This is Verena and Georg's photo, titled "Boulders on Beach"...Congratulations again to both of you!!!

A fan, viewing the image and reading the placard...this was actually tougher to get than you'd think. Most people were too nice, and quickly moved out of the way when they saw my camera

David, thank you for taking the time to post this fine follow up to your recent visit. Well deserved congratulations to both Georg and Verena on this displayed photograph.

The Popps have been an inspiration for me for the past year on Man & Nature forum. Problem is, I have no ocean near me and my closest one is the Arctic Ocean, believe it or not! I'm on vacation in Northern Californy and have had some access to a few great tide pools at Shelter Cove. I brought my Canon 500D macro and had some real fun. The Popps helped to broaden the scope of what I photo and for that I thank them.
