I'm planning a visit to Mt. Rainier......are there any indications yet if this will be a good or bad wildflower year? Thanks for any info that you can provide.
Plenty of wet earlier this summer, lots of wildflowers over here on the Olympic Peninsula. The scotch broom seed crop (maintained by county and state) had a spectactular flowering! Everything else, native species included, appears to be doing quite well, if a tad late in appearing.
I was just up there a few days ago. Reflection Lake still has quite a bit of snow and ice on it. If we get some rain it might be a good season, though I suspect very late.

I just came off the Mountain last week. Here is a shot of it. Up high there is still up to ten feet of snow in places. However, I was able to get many wildflower shots! They were all over, but get off the beaten path is my advice. I wish I would have had more time there, I can't wait to go back!!!
Yup, still a ton of snow up there, but all indications thus far are that the wildflowers this year will be off the charts. It may be the end of August before we see peak color though, and I'm liking the chances of actually seeing flowers and fall colors (Huckleberry at least, maybe some Mountain Ash too) at the same time.
