Cley Beach
Canon EOS 1Ds MKII, 16-35mm f2.8, 31mm, f22, 1/320, ISO 400, RAW, RSE, CS2, Manfrotto 055 Tripod, Arca swiss ball head, cable release.

Hi All,

Just returned from a nice long weekend in Fakenham, Norfolk. My main target up there was Marsh Harrier, as I have very little on them, but the day I had out at Cley/Salthouse it was blowing a gale on the coast, and although they were about, shutter speeds were slow and they kept their distance. So put the 600 in the boot and went for a walk along the beach for some landscapes as the clouds and sea were pretty impressive.

I do not do alot of landscapes but I would like to start doing it much more often.

Not sure if it is the best BW conversion either??

All comments welcome

Regards

Rob

Hi Rob,

I think you succeeded in letting us feel the wind and hear the waves.
I think in this case BW is good. If there is a blue spot in the sky (no clouds) then I do prefer colour.

Well done Rob,
You have captured a wide range of tone values. There is a rich graduation in the clouds.
I would have placed the fisherman in the right third. But this is more a personal taste.
greetings,
Bertl

Hi Rob,
The conversion looks fine but with B/W the composition becomes even more important. And this one suffers from the central figure and, perhaps, the large area of sand/pebbles to his right that holds little interest. The better landscape togs will all tell you you need something of interest in the foreground.
With wildlife we concentrate on the subject, but with landscape you do have to look around the whole frame prior to pressing the shutter

Evocotive image and portraying the spirit of the place nicely. Reminds me of years of staring out to see with a telescope in autumns gone by. What a waste of time!

Love it - I think B & W works well in this one!
