Has anyone else had any dealings with Ars Amandi, part of Callista Agency, Bucharest. I got an email from them via PhotoPortfolio and I always like to do research on companies before licensing any images.

I was personally contacted by them but they want everything, web rights, sales rights, use in brochure rights. It's hard to figure out what to charge and I'm wary of former USSR countries.

We can talk more in email about this if you're interested. You have much more stock experience than I do.

These are the exact concerns I have Dan. Although recently I had a very favourable experience dealing with Digital Photographer Ukraine who did a really good job with a magazine presentation of mine. I am considering uploading the relevant images to Alamy and letting them purchase the licenses through the stock agency.

I also received a query from them through the photo portfolio site. I assume that probably many others did too. I couldn't find out anything about them at all. I sent them an email a few days ago but haven't received a response.

I thought that Jim screens out for legit photo buyers?

They sent me a list of ten shots for canvas fine art prints, web use and advertising material. Their preference is for long-term use. It ain't going to be cheap for this sort of use. I wasn't aware of any screening process Richard.

Kah Kit,

I received the same request you did, with a list of multiple uses including making canvas prints from the digital files. I am considering the possibiilty of breaking down the proposal into the key elements and pricing each element. The idea of them getting the large files and printing their own images is the most difficult aspect of the proposal to price. Send me a private e-mail and perhaps we can gain negotiating power or share information. BTW, I got a request to submit images to Ukraine Photographer as well and am pleased to hear that you had a good experience with them.

Kah,

Thanks for the offer. I sent them an email asking them to list the photos they are interested in. If I hear back from them, then I'll definitely contact you.
