Went last night in search of the Little Owls.
When its hot and sunny what do we do. Sit in the shade.
Searched round the farm yard and finally found two together sheltering amongst a pile of old concrete fence posts.
After four visits I now feel they are begining to except me.
Opening and closing the car door gave little or no reaction so I knew I was starting to get somewhere.

Nice bird and cracking pose. Just a shame about the background, but then if that's where they are so be it.

Lovely! Fantastic pose. I quite like the background as it shows how well camouflaged they are, even in a man-made setting, yet the eyes really stand out.
I think you're going to have a great series of these birds!
I think he looks quite a happy little bird, relaxed yet alert to a group of Wood Pigeons flapping about in the overhanging trees above, and just to the left in the coolness of the concrete posts sits his mate.
Thanks for your comments.
Well caught moment in a great little habitat.
Your field craft is spot on but, for me at least, the composition lets the shot down. The imbalance (brought about by the space at the top of the image) is easily rectified with cropping though. Cracking, perky little bird.
The wood is there to allow a fork truck to lift them off the ground Andy. Up top for dominoes, down there for dancing.
These last two shots are absolute beauties Major. I haven't seen a better little owl shot for a long time. The BGs are excellent IMO and tell you everything about how they live around man. That is the natural habitat for a lot of animals these days and I think we are often 'telling lies' a bit by avoiding man-made backgrounds. Eric

Cheers, Chris.
Great shot and love the moment you've captured.
Question - what sort of builders do you have down there - pre-cast concrete sitting on wood mmmm...
