Little Owl Sick (w now c)
OK it's a Little Pellet

Posted this as it seems that Little Owls are becoming an in bird to photograph. Look for these & you are very close, maybe to close for their own confort.

Enjoy them & be careful not to disturb them to much.

Cracking birds :toast:

What do you think this is made up of?

Hi Vince,

Good to hear from you :wavey: . I have at least 3 pairs of LO within 2 miles of my front door, they seem to be doing really well around here. Looks to me like it's been eating a few Beetles and by the amount of dirt and gravel a few Earthworms too

My BO's have 3 young on the verge of fledging (49,50,51 days old) and maybe having a second brood in one of your boxes :jump: Speak soon

Regards

Rob

Hi Rob :wavey: :toast:

3 pairs of Little Owls, brilliant  Might be worth putting up a few boxes for them too.

Pellet content is correct, huge browny point :toast: :toast:

Good news about the 3 BOwlets, this is what we are getting on average in our boxes within Gloucestershire, looks like an average in other areas too . In some of our boxes we have found young to be aged a few weeks apart rather than the 1 to 2 day age gap, could we be expecting a bad winter?

All the best & keep up the good work :toast:

When I read the title I thought you'd taken in an ill Little Owl...

It was amazing watching (no shots tho) a LO fighting with an earthworm that was nearly as long as it was  .....the LO won...

I can't find our LO's now :frown: The kiddies have fledged, and they sit in the hedge and call, but I can't see them!! I think they sit there laughing at me....

Good to hear from you Vince. I'll remember to keep an eye out for the Beetle nut crunch.

Owl pellets are so interesting - many schools in our area are often looking for a supply of owl pellets to disect and I am told the pupils find analysing the contents very interesting!

Thanks for posting.
