Not the best photo by any standards but means something to me which I feel is always an important part of enjoying photography.

The nest box is less than 100 m from my house and was put up 3 yrs ago. This is the first year the box has been used for breeding. It started with 4 eggs (we had a video camera in the box) and has resulted in 3 youngster fledging, 2 females and one male. Though one of them didn't seem to want to be in this photo.

We are not sure what happened to the 4 egg, it wasn't in the box when we ringed the chicks at 2 1/2 weeks old.

This was taken last weekend at just before 6am.

It's also the first photos with my new 1D MkIII

Hi Gavin,

What a wonderful record shot for you to have of "your" Kestrels. I had Kestrels this year in one of my Barn Owl "A" frame boxes, although they only fledged one youngster.

Well done for putting a box up and great that it is being used.

A fellow "Landy" nut hey, I use mine as a hide as well, they are just great are'nt they

Regards

Rob

Nice . Perhaps a tighter crop to remove the top left light might help too.

Very nice record shot and its always good to see things doing well. Feels like it needs a little anti-clockwise rotation? The morning light is lovely
