D2X,s + 600mm AFS II + 1.4 conv.
1/200 @ f6.3.
ISO 400.
Ex Comp -0.7EV.
Matrix metering.
Tone Comp less contrast.
No in camera sharpening.
Taken from the car at extreme angle.
Changed from the D3 to D2X,s to take this as the building it perched in was pretty tall from where I sat.
Went along this evening to have a look what they were up to.
Found one bird sat on those favorite concrete posts. Took a few shots and decided to have a look at the rest of the farm buildings. Happened to glance up as I drove down the road and spotted this one perched on high surveying his teritory.
In the not to distant future some of the old barns are up for conversion so I need to work out one or two things so that possibly I can get some boxes up for these birds otherwise they look as though they may get ousted.
Nice shot. Framed perfectly by the brick work. IMO if the buildings are being re developed then it should be down to the developer to provide funding for boxes to relocate the Owl's. ( that is the law for Barn Owl's although they are schedule 1).
I knew that was the case Rob but in practice it doesn't always work out as it should.
The genuine ones do oblige but there ar many more that go on regardless and get away with it.
A wise move investing in bricks & mortor. Cracking shot, although I would like to see him looking directly at you, or a bit more of the right eye, however it is a typical pose. One of, looking down at you.

Very nice LO shot Major , I only ever see them sat on bus stop signs or road signs which aren't so photogenic , top work.

Another brilliant shot Major! The bricks make a great frame. Hope you're able to get some boxes up for these little guys. The ones round here have taken advantage of an 'A' box (think they're sposed to be for BOs?) I guess they liked the view...
