This year hasn't been all that good for dragonflies. My local patch is very sparse and I'd just got my 150mm back from repairs on Friday. A quick trip to the ponds on our industrial estate only bagged me this guy in a stiff breeze.

Hi Rob. Glad you got it back. Not easy are they -these guys. The positionof the left antenna has made this look a little odd too. Good shot though.

I was thinking the same as John about the left antenna. I'm not too sure about the background - may be a different angle to have all green as at the top or all grey as the bottom 2/3? Very nice detail on the grasshopper's head though and the exposure looks spot on.

Detailed & sharp around the head Rob but the OOf rear end and the OOf vegetation in the BG dont seem to go to well.

great sharpness and exposure Rob. A slight shame about the foliage in the background.

I agree with the previous comments - the background is a bit distracting and detracts from what would otherwise be a fine shot.

Cheers,

Dan.

Agree about the antenna, the BG is fine, just the stem in the middleground behind the 'hopper that's a bit distracting. But a pretty good result in a stiff breeze!
