Yellow Swallowtail
I recently planted a Blue Agastache plant and put it out on our back deck. I bought it because they all were swarming with bees when I was looking at them at the nursery. And like a good little photographer I said to myself, wow, that would be cool to get a picture of. Well no bees yet, but when I walked out around 11am this fella was all over it! And he stuck around long enough for me to grab the 'ol camera and shoot away.
It was some bright light, but man it was pretty. It must have had about a 4-5" wingspan.

(there's kinda a funny story behind this 1/750th shutter speed, and it has to do with Tim E. and me trying to learn something new, only my memory ain't so good! )

A beautiful specimen Brad, in perfect condition. These are the times when you wish for just a few thin clouds to act as a diffuser! Good stuff anyway. Thanks for posting! :wavey:

Glad to know I'm not the only one with a fleeting memory...thank goodness for metadata.

This is a nice shot, Brad - even with the harsh light.

A good example of how bad light isn't always bad, perhaps in this instance because the vertical light is falling on your vertical subject at a very oblique angle. Beautiful shot. I might see if I could darken the out of focus flowers and leaves on the right a touch.
