This shot is the result of some PS work. I liked the patterns and colors in the grass, but the scene was extremely low contrast, so I shot it a bit overexposed and then darkened and added contrast via a few blending mode layers set to Multiply, Overlay and Darken. I'm not sure it achieved the vision I had for it. I also like the lines, but I'm not sure how I feel about the overall composition. There weren't too many other choices due to a tricky position and distracting elements on all sides. Thanks for your thoughts.
I think I see where you were going with this . My problem is I am pulled towards the rocks instead of the grass.

I don't mind the rocks but the URC has gotta go, IMO.

Ditto All comments on URC otherwise... very cool image.... maybe crop a bit of the foreground too?
Sean you're going to get lots of different opinions on this one! Most are going to be subjective, just like mine.

I agree with removing the top Right - crop about where the red line of grasses hits the top Left and it's then a much stronger semi-abstract shot with interesting lines and color. Congrats on the awesome write up in Outdoor Photographer mag, Sean. That's a great privilege to be profiled like that. You made some of us here in the PNW very proud

With the URC removed, I like this strictly as an abstract, Sean. But I can't see it for what is is - a grassland scene - because the colors appear too bizarre somehow, almost negatives of what I would expect them to be. This must be the result of all the processing steps.
I really like this as an abstract, Sean, rocks and all. Ditto re: urc. Great potential with the colors in the image.

Thanks for the helpful feedback! Now that I have had a day away from it I can see that it isn't going to make it. The processing is too overcooked...trying too hard to make something out of nothing. There also weren't enough composition options. All comments about the upper corner and rocks are dead on. Thanks.
I've looked at this a lot of times and I like it a lot. Sorry to dissent with all the accomplished photographers at this site, but I think this image shows a play of lights and darks that is not an artifact from the processing. I think it's dramatic and striking, and shows us a sort of thing that I for one try hard to see.
