Old Jim Crow
Carrion Crow
This one walked past as i sat waiting for the foxes to appear. Not easy birds to get close to normally. Nobody likes 'em but they are what they are !

Nice crisp shot of a much (IMHO) maligned bird. And a lot closer that I've ever managed to get to one with a camera in my hand.

Nice, i have a soft spot for corvids, Jays in particular. Their stunning when you get the sun right and you can see all the iridescent colours.

I really like this John. You've got the tones in the feathers that it is so easy to miss. I should make and effort with these myself - there are lots of opportunities right where I live and I don't think I have ever pointed a lens at one!

Corvids have their fans...

Unusual looking lighting John - was it in the reflected light from a window or something? BTW, looks like you got an oof bit of grass up it's bum.

Nice photo though, especially for showing the feather detail.

Thanks all.
Nick- late evening sun shine going down - probably reflecting off trees on the left. I got the same effect on the foxes but only once.
Pity about the bit of grass going over the left leg in a bum direction ,but I wasn't going to attempt anything on it with folks like you around !!
It's one of those difficult ones. I could darken the hind claw up a bit which might help.

Just live with it John. You could probably try dodging/burning the area...but is it really worth the hassle? It's a pleasing enough shot as it is.

Hi John, great detail on the bird but OOF bit towards the birds rump is distracting as is the grass or branch on the top LHS of the frame. Otherwise a nice account of the species.

Brett.

Super shot John, never see Crows here - just Rooks! I agree - don't often see good pics of these birds.
