A small cascade from near our backcountry campsite in the Three Sisters Wilderness this past week which I captured while leading one of my backpacking tours.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful shot Marc. There is excellent depth in this composition. The wild flowers and grass mounds really anchor the shot well. My only minor nit is that the splash of red flowers on the left feels a little cut off.

Marc, I haven't forgotten what you've told me about compositional elements, leading your eye through a scene, etc. I LOOK for these things now, and this image in particular really grabs and pulls you right up to the crest. Cliff said that "You just balance these photos so well." and he's right. This image has it, I like this a LOT. It makes you want to run right up the stream.
BTW, are the rocks up on the left a little dark from the grad line? I'm just asking because if I had this up in PS I might be prompted to lighten them a little, but that doesn't necessarily mean they should be... just interested in your take. At times I tend to like the darker band fron the GND's, like in your Crater lake shot.

Very nice Marc. I like the darkness of the scene....seems to make the colors stand out more. THis is almost like it was shot on Velvia.
I think it might be nice to have the mid ground left rocks be a tiny bit brighter. They get a little muddy with the trees directly behind them. Great work with the GND here!
Doug, what I was trying to avoid was much larger trees to the left in the background. A tad wider or further left and they were distracting to the peak. Thanks for the other thoughts on the comp/processing folks. Chris, I took one on Velvia here not too long ago (or maybe it was...dang, time does fly...) and I agree with your comment on the color palette - very similar indeed! Maybe I was influenced by my old chromes on this one.
Yeah, not being there we never know what is going on just ouside the framing of the shot. You could have been cutting out Marmots having a kegger :)

Marc: I always love it when you can work some wildflowers into an image. The elements flow really well here and my eye chases them around smoothly. Not sure you need all the empty sky on top, however.
