All blue columbine
Has anybody ever seen this before? An all blue (or bluish purple to be precise) columbine. I'm thinking it must be pretty rare - I've never seen one before, and this was the only one I saw in all of Ice Lakes Basin, and there are lots of columbines there now.

This was a handheld snapshot, blurry and uncreative, but I thought I'd share anyways.

While I'm at it, here's a shot from upper Ice Lakes. Some people hauled a raft up there!

That's pretty unique! I can't say I've ever seen one.
Those rafters are pretty dedicated, I'd be lightening my load any way I could for that climb.

I've sure never seen one like that. That's very, very cool! The raft and flowers pic is also a real stunner. I love the intense blue color of the lake.

It might be a spurless blue columbine? I asked for a photo ID on a similar looking flower a month or so ago and a Karyn Chaffin responded, "I think you are looking at the Spurless Blue Columbine - perhaps a little past its prime. Usually the 5 inner petals are not quite so flat. (Aquilegia coerulea daileyae - named for an Anna Dailey from the Evergreen area in the 1800's.) Where did you find it? I have seen a few at Reynolds Park."

Not quite as pretty as your photo, Jack, but here's the ones I ran across. (Nice noise from the G9, eh?)
